Dental plaque is a film of bacteria adhering on the tooth surfaces and it is developed continuously.

Common areas where dental plaque accumulates:

  • Gingival sulcus.
  • Adjacent tooth surfaces of teeth.
  • Surfaces under fixed bridge.
  • Surfaces of removable denture.
  • Surfaces of removable orthodontic appliances.
  • Surfaces of fixed orthodontic appliances.

Consequences of dental plaque accumulation

The accumulation of dental plaque causes oral diseases such as tooth decay and gum disease; therefore, we have to remove the dental plaque thoroughly every day.
