The Oral Health Education Unit of the Department
of Health cordially invites companies/organizations to join the Patron
Angel of Oral Health (PAOH) Programme. This
programme aims to promote the oral health of the adults of Hong Kong
by raising their oral health awareness and improving their teeth cleaning
techniques.
According to an oral health survey conducted
by the Department of Health in 2001, among 1000 adults, only 7 had healthy gums,
the rest had varying degrees of gum disease. Indeed, every one will
possess healthy gums if only one brushes the teeth twice everyday and
floss daily.
But the fact is that, only one out of every
ten adults has daily flossing habit, two out of every three adults have
never flossed. The commonest reason for not flossing is that they do
not know how to floss. Therefore, the best way to improve the adults'
oral health is to coach them the proper teeth cleaning techniques, let
alone to raise their oral health awareness.
How could your company/organization help improve the adults'
oral health of your community?
Your company/organization could permit
your volunteers to participate in the PAOH programme.
After training, your volunteers will be qualified as Patron Angels,
who will pass on the essential oral care messages and more importantly,
transfer the teeth cleaning techniques to their colleagues. This shows
how your company/organization cares to build a healthy workforce. |
